Recently, Nokia Head
Quarter (HQ) in Espoo, Finland announced officially on its blog on December 4,
2012 that Nokia had agreed to sell and lease back its head office building on a
long-term lease to Finland-based Exilion. They expect to complete the sale by
the end of 2012. The selling price is EUR 170 million.
"We had a comprehensive sales process with both
Finnish and foreign investors and we are very pleased with this outcome. As we
have said before, owning real estate is not part of Nokia's core business and
when good opportunities arise we are willing to exit these types of non-core
assets. We are naturally continuing to operate in our head office building on a
long-term basis," said Timo Ihamuotila, CFO, Nokia.
Note: Nokia has operated in the building since 1997. The 48,000 m2
building, designed by architect Pekka Helin, is located in Keilaniemi, Espoo,
Finland.
Could this issue make Nokia’s employees in the world feel uncomfortable,
especially in Cambodia?
Uh… for me, I think at least they will get wondered why the
HQ do that. Anyway, now Nokia has been starting up from changing its original
concept on sticking with Symbain OS to use Windows Phone OS; especially they,
Nokia, use the first Windows Phone 8 for Nokia Lumia 920, 820 and 620.
And there are other 3 companies that also initially launched this OS such as Samsung,
Huawei, and HTC. All devices are based on System on Chips
from Qualcomm. Unfortunately current Windows Phone 7.x devices cannot
run or update to Windows Phone 8 and new applications compiled specifically for
Windows Phone 8 are not made available for Windows Phone 7.x devices.
Talking about Windows 8, Microsoft (MDP) Cambodia officially
launched it on November 15, 2012 at CJCC
as mentioned more detail in my previous post, Microsoft
Technology Innovation Day in Cambodia 2012.
Which model of Samsung, HTC, and China mobile maker,
Huawei, use Windows Phone 8?
For Samsung, Windows Phone 8 is available in Samsung ATIV family
(ATIV S, ATIV Tab, ATIV smart PC, and ATIV smart PC Pro).

For HTC, the Windows Phone 8 is available in HTC Windows Phone 8X.

For Huawei, it will be released in the model, Huawei
Ascend W1.

What model of which brand do you select Windows Phone 8 to
use? As for Nokia Lumia 920, will it be competed well with other brands
like Samsung Galaxy SIII and iPhone 5 in Cambodian market?
